Daniel Motley

Lay Elder

Daniel Motley is originally from Kentucky, and he and his wife, Whitney, have been married for more than 15 years. Over the years, God has opened doors for Daniel to serve both the church and the broader Christian community through a variety of roles. He currently works as the Content Licensing Manager for Atla, formerly the American Theological Library Association. Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade with Logos Bible Software as a product manager and licensor, and he also served as a youth pastor in Kentucky for almost two years.

For Daniel, being part of Shelter is a genuine gift. He counts it a privilege to serve a congregation he deeply loves—a church where God’s hand has been evident since its beginning and where the people consistently demonstrate what it means to love Jesus and love others through their generosity, their service, and their encouragement.

Outside of work and ministry, Daniel enjoys spending time with his favorite hobbies: playing video games—mainly on PC and the Switch—and reading. Alongside his work and ministering to Shelter Church, he is a scholar working in the area of New Testament textual criticism (it's not a very helpful name—not criticizing the Bible but understanding how the Bible came down to us via manuscripts written by faithful scribes) with a focus in the Latin translation of the New Testament. He jokingly refers to himself as a bit of a nerd, and he brings that same curiosity and love for learning into every area of his life and ministry.
