Community Groups exist to continue the conversation from Sunday, and cultivate genuine relationships grounded in the truth of the gospel. Groups meet weekly or biweekly in various locations in the Cary/Apex/Holly Springs area. Use the contact form below to get connected with a group!

Community Groups FAQs

Each group is unique! Community group leaders and their members set the tone for their gatherings. Some groups begin with a shared meal, while others alternate between men's and women's nights, dive into a book study, or discuss the sermon from the previous week. Regardless of the group, you’ll experience the truth of the gospel being taught and discussed, members supporting one another in prayer, and authentic fellowship being built. Simply fill out the form above with any specific preferences, and we’ll connect you with the group that best fits your needs.

All Community Groups fall into two categories:
  • Studying Sunday’s Scripture with a church-provided discussion guide
  • Exploring Biblically-based curriculum approved by the elders

Leadership evaluates all curriculum with the following criteria:
  1. The author is a confessing believer
  2. The author agrees with the church’s Essential Theological Beliefs
  3. The author agrees with the elders’ Theological Convictions OR:
  4. The curriculum in question does not oppose the Theological Convictions
  5. The curriculum is Biblically-based and promotes discipleship

As you begin exploring community groups, we encourage you to try a few different options to find the one that feels like the best fit for you. Once you've found your place, committing to that group provides the time and space necessary for building deep, meaningful relationships—something we truly value!

Groups offer a supportive environment to deepen your understanding of the gospel, pray with others, and build meaningful relationships. 

We're always looking to add new Community Groups! We ask that all prospective leaders be members of Shelter Church, spend a season as a member of an existing group, and complete the New Leader Training before launching in the upcoming semester.
