A lifelong North Carolinian, David was born in Charlotte and has been happily married to his wife Lauren since June 2010. Together, they have a daughter, a son, and a puppy who thinks she's a third child.
David’s journey into ministry started during his time at NC State, where he was studying mechanical engineering. After feeling God’s call to ministry, he spent eight years working as an engineer and project manager while also serving in the local church. In August 2018, he made the full-time transition into ministry and has been serving as a pastor ever since.
What excites David about being part of the congregation is its deep sense of family. He’s passionate about the shared mission to extend the refuge of Jesus Christ to the community and is inspired by the congregation’s heart for evangelism. David loves that Shelter walks through books of the Bible and isn't afraid to explore harder topics with grace and love. He’s also passionate about the church’s ministry partnerships, particularly in serving vulnerable members of the community. Above all, David is grateful for the leadership and support of the elder team, staff, and deacons, calling it an honor and privilege to serve as a pastor.
Outside of ministry, David enjoys nearly all forms of physical activity —whether it’s Peloton, CrossFit, or going on walks and hikes with his family. He’s also a passionate fan of NC State athletics and the Atlanta Braves. When he’s not coaching local youth baseball or helping his neighborhood’s swim team, you’ll find him resting at his family's favorite destination: Sunset Beach.
